What is Freedom?

1)   What is YOUR definition of freedom? Explain.
My definition of freedom is the ability to say or express what one feels or thinks without the fear of being targeted or harmed by someone else.

2)   Does freedom mean being able to do whatever you want? Explain.
Freedom does not mean one should be able to do whatever one wants. Freedom means to be able to express yourself without the fear of being targeted or aggravated by someone else it also means the ability to be the person you want to be and not what the society wants.

3)   Is public security (what is best for making sure society is as safe as possible) more important than personal freedom (being able to do what you want without government interference)? Explain.
I think that public security and personal interference are equally as important as one another. Without public security, freedom would eventually get to people which will lead them to stealing, harming one another, and committing crimes. If there was no personal freedom the government will eventually turn into a dictator government.

4)   Should we be free to do whatever we want as long as it does not directly harm someone else? Explain.
Although freedom is good, it even has to be limited. Freedom should only be limited to a degree where people can live in peace with each other and without the fear of being attacked by the government.

5)   Are you free to do whatever you want? If not, is something stopping you? Explain by giving an example.
I am not totally free to do what I want many obstacles are in the way. An example is my family, who gives me a curfew. This is a great example because if I was I totally I would have the ability to be out as long as I want.

6)   Is it ever OK to break the law or the rules of society? Support your answer with an example from real life.
It is only OK to break the law when one is doing it for a good reason. An example is when one protests because they feel that their rights as a human have been violated.

7)   Is it more important to stand up for what you believe (even if it means getting into trouble) or to obey all the rules and laws and stay out of trouble? Explain by giving an example.
It is more important to stand up for what you believe in even if it means getting into trouble. If one just does what others say then they are basically living as “government expectations”. If one does what the government want then they would be able to learn new things and cherish they truly passion for in life.

What is an American?

Trait #1: Patriotic

Example: Americans always show their pride by joining the military force to fight for their country or running for government. Another example of patriotism is the way Americans show their pride by hanging an American flag near their house.

Comment: Americans are very proud of their country which is a great strength yet a great weakness as well. Too Much pride for a country will eventually lead to over confidence which will then lead them to the attempt of overpowering other countries and start of war.

Trait #2: Racist

Example: Americans show their racism side by enhancing their immigration status and acceptance to extreme levels. Another example of Americans being racist is the history of its government. There has never been another ethnic group, besides white, running the white house. Even on our current elections we would have to wait and see if Americans have overlooked their ethnic differences with other racial groups.

Comment: Even though Americans have improved their “anti-racism” skills I think they could still improve greatly. We have gone from a pro-slavery country to what is now a semi-free nation. Who knows probably in 10 to 20 years America might be known as the land of the free.

Trait #3: Greedy

Example: Americans tend to use up most of the world natural resourced. Not only do they use up a lot of the resources; Americans are very greedy with making their economy and culture so great that it eventually leads them into arguments within the country.

Comment: Greediness might seem as a bad thing but it is also to be considered as a good thing as well. By being a greedy country throughout the years, America has become the great nation it is today.
